Grigg Family To Go To France

Owen Aikin, Gagny, France

One of the purposes of our visits among the churches here in America has been to encourage capable preachers and teachers to consider the field of France with the idea in mind of going there to help take advantage of the many golden opportunities that this field presents, and we are especially grateful to be able to announce, to brethren everywhere, the decision of the Robert Grigg family to join us in the French work.

Brother Grigg is at present laboring with the church in Brownsville, Texas, where he has been for several years. He formerly worked with the Brookside Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before moving to Brownsville.

Brother Grigg is 31 years of age and grew up in a Christian home from which he gained, along with his personal study, an excellent knowledge of the scriptures. His father was an elder for several years in the church at Wellman, Texas, before his death. Brother Grigg graduated from ACC in 1950 and has done work toward the masters degree in Eastern New Mexico University at Portales, New Mexico. He is married and has two boys, ages 6 and 8 years. While with the Santa Rita Church in San Angelo, Texas, he did considerable personal work among the patients at the State TB Sanatorium at Sanatorium, Texas. He and his wife have expressed a burning desire to enter France in order that they might help in calling to the minds of the French people, the truth of God which can make them free.

Having known Brother Grigg personally for some time, I can testify as to his qualifications and capabilities for a work such as that in France, and therefore, heartily recommend him to the consideration of the brethren. We are grateful to God for their decision to join us in the work in France and feel that they will contribute immeasurably to the success of that effort.

The Griggs have set January 15th as the time when they are to leave, the Lord willing, for France. This will allow sufficient time to secure the necessary permits for entering that country. There is no difficulty at all in securing visas to enter France, but because of considerable red tape in government affairs, time is required. In the meantime, support must be worked out for him as well as travel expenses. French law requires that one entering that country furnish written proof of support from this country before a visa can be granted to enter. Churches therefore, interested in supporting a capable, sound man in a needed and opportune field are urged to get in contact with Brother Grigg in Brownsville on the matter of his support and travel expenses. He will need approximately $400.00 per month in support and $1,250.00 travel expenses. Brethren here is an opportunity that must not be overlooked, so we urge you to contact Brother Grigg at this address: R. M. Grigg, Church of Christ, 8 and West Levee, Box 785, Brownsville, Texas, without delay so that precious time will not be lost for the work in France. There is a special need for some congregation to guarantee the support of Brother Grigg in this work in order that assurance of his support may be given to French authorities so application can be made to the French government for his visa.
