Concerning "Questions Answered"

Gene Martin, Brenham, Texas

Glenn Wallace's articles in the Firm Foundation and Gospel Guardian concerning the Herald of Truth are very thought-provoking and timely. His questions surely point out illogical reasoning by those who seem more intent on large scale promotions than in holding the line where the Lord drew it.

This area of Texas is indeed a "mission" field, a much neglected section where the church is hardly known. On US Highway 290, from Austin to Houston, there are only two preachers (here and in Hempstead) laboring with congregations. Many towns (some county seats) do not have so much as one member of the church. The greater majority of the people (German, Czech, Polish) are Lutheran or Catholic, and have never met a gospel preacher. The point I'm getting at is simply this:

Think what could be done in this area with $1,400,000 used to put 269 preachers "in the field" and actually contact these people with the gospel!

They most assuredly could do more preaching and teaching, could convert more people, than all the radio and TV programs one could promote. There would be no comparison between 269 preachers located in this area and "one" such 30-minute program per week.

If anyone is interested in a field where there is no need to "create" the problem, ask them to investigate this section of Texas. There is plenty to be done here-abouts for years to come.
