New Churches
Gordon R. Price, CTC, Kamisayo, Japan, Phone: 30-459: We are glad to be able to inform our readers of a church in Yokohama, Japan, which endeavors to follow the New Testament pattern in all things -- hence, does not participate in the innovations and unscriptural undertakings being promoted by so many of our liberalistic, institutional-minded brethren. The congregation meets each Lord's day at 10:00 (For Bible classes) and 11:00 a. m. at: Boy Scout Center, Bayside Courts, Yokohama, Japan. Many who will have occasion to be in Japan will be glad to know this. For further information contact the above.
Personal Reports
Kenneth A. Sterling, 502 15th Ave. No., Payette, Idaho, 83661: The work here continues to be encouraging in many ways. During the past 5 months we have had 9 baptisms, 1 restoration and 1 to place membership with us. The members have a mind to work and are contacting every one they possibly can. We are in the process of putting in a new baptistry and building dressing rooms in the auditorium. Brother Vern Wilson of Escalon, California, is to be with us in a meeting Feb. 21-28. Plan to worship with us when in Idaho or Eastern Oregon.
Jesse Wiseman, 3400 Cuthbert Street, Midland, Texas 79701: After almost four pleasant years of labor with the good church at Mulvane, Kansas we have moved to Midland, Texas. On the first of December I began work with the church here which meets at 3400 West Cuthbert Street. Our new address is 4415 Parkdale Dr., Midland, Texas
Irven Lee, P.O. Box 866, Hartselle, Alabama After almost five years at Jasper, Alabama, I am moving to Hartselle, Alabama. There are a few little firmly established churches in the Jasper area that are dedicated to the safe way. Good men preach in these communities. I do not know how Gus Nichols could have done more with the tongue against these churches than he has done, but he has not been able to prevent their starting and growing. The future will be brighter.
Loyd Nash has moved back to Fort Smith, Ark., to work with the North Ninth Street church of Christ. He had labored with that congregation for a number of years, before moving away.
In Memory Of---
Kenneth Ward Clark (Bud), faithful soldier in Zion, dedicated preacher of the Henderson Blvd. has fallen. After a painful and futile battle to labor on in life as a servant of Christ he has gone to be with the Lord. Given a thorn in the flesh even from birth which continually buffeted him in body bro. Clark labored faithfully as a gospel preacher and endeared himself to the hearts of all who knew him.
We feel that the lives of all those touched by this fine young man have been in some way influenced for better. Such is so with this scribe (Julian R. Snell) and I shall cherish the memory of our brief association. Ah, what a joy it is to be a Christian and while not being completely oblivious to the pangs of sadness in physical separation and loss by death, yet we are filled with a hope and joy that belongs only to those who know the Lord. Truly we sorrow not as those who have no hope.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to those who mourn the passing of this, our friend and brother.
