The Catholics Are At It Again!,

Luther W. Martin, Rolla, Missouri

Some time ago, the Postmaster General was approached by the Roman Catholics with the request that a commerative postage stamp be issued in honor of the "Virgin Mary, as the Mother of God." That effort was effectively met and stopped. Now, however, another attempt is being made.

THE TABLET, a weekly newspaper "Maintained by and in the interest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn," states in its January 19th issue:

"Proposes Stamp Honoring K. Of C. Anniversary"

"Washington, D.C. (RNS) — A resolution pending in the Senate proposes that the Postmaster General issue a special three-cent commemorative stamp to honor the 75th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus ....

"Senator Charles E. Potter of Michigan is the sponsor. Citing the K. of C.'s civic work he said the anniversary deserves national recognition."

Inasmuch as the Postmaster General turned them down at least once before, they are attempting to force him, this time, through the means of a Senate Resolution, to issue a special postage stamp that will be nothing less than ROMAN CATHOLIC PARTIZAN PROPAGANDA!

This scribe has already written both his Senators from his home state and also written to Postmaster General Arthur E. Summerfield.

It is hoped that the readers of this publication will do the same.

Such tactics should be opposed by all honorable means, no matter what religious or fraternal organization makes the attempt to profit at the expense of the American Taxpayer!

HOGLAND-CLEMENT DEBATE L. K. Turner, Fort Smith, Arkansas

From February 25th through the 28th, Ward Hogland will meet Robert Gordon Clement in a discussion here. The first two nights will be conducted at the Midland Boulevard church where Brother Clement preaches, and the last two nights at the Park Hill church where Brother Hogland preaches. The propositions embrace present "issues" relative to church cooperation. Brother Hogland needs no introduction to people of this area in the field of polemics. He has participated in a number of debates during the past nine years of labor with the Park Hill church. Brother Clement has preached at the Midland Boulevard church for a little over a year. There are a number of tourist courts and hotels in Fort Smith to take care of visitors. We welcome you to this discussion.
