Everett Hardin of Louisville, Kentucky has moved to Glasgow, Kentucky entering fulltime work as an evangelist. He was a member of the Valley Station congregation.

Austin Mobley: "'Goochtown' sounds like a setting for a good Western drama, but in this instance it was the setting for a gospel meeting (my third there), and a very successful one. We had seven responses, five baptized and two restored in the meeting the church is located about 18 miles north of Somerset, Kentucky."

W. L. Wharton scheduled for a meeting at 15th Street church in Hereford, Texas the first week in December. John Coffman is the local preacher.

F. O. White in Carol City, Florida (Miami area) reports 30 in Bible classes; 32 in morning worship; 30 in the evening and $288 for the month's contribution (September). The congregation there has withdrawn from ten members during the period.

During Austin Mobley's first year at Tallmadge, Ohio 20 were baptized, 24 restored, 19 placed membership.

Ward Hogland: "In 1968 my meetings began with the Hollywood church in Miami, Florida. From there meetings took me to Springhill, La., Pensacola, Fla., Lewisville, Texas, Booneville, Miss., Cash, Texas, Martinville, Ark., Huntsville, Ala., Austin, Texas and Lawrenceburg, Tenn: In March I engaged Vernon L. Barr, Baptist, in a four night debate on baptism and apostasy. I am now in my eighth year with Walnut Street." Box 166, Greenville, Tex. 75401 Richard Donley, 1515 S. 5th St., Rogers, Arkansas: "I would like to locate a church that needs a preacher, and that is not able to pay a salary. I have a job of such nature that I can move and keep the job, but it will be more convenient if I can remain in Western Arkansas. Nothing would suit me better than to work with brethren who have been in liberalism, and who want to start a new work free from institutionalism." Telephone ME 6-2853.

Pat Farish: "Please include a notice of our meeting at Parkway, November 4-10, with Elmer Moore, at 7:30 each evening. 4215 Dakin Place, Corpus Christi, Texas."

Robert L. Patton has moved to Jamestown, Indiana to work with the church there. He is being partially supported in this work by the brethren in Brownsburg, Indiana.

Jack Gibbert, Myrtle Beach, S. C. When I was stationed here in the spring of 1962 there was only one congregation and it was "liberal". I was the only member with any convictions on the "issues" but owing to the fact I was on military duty most of the time (I was gone eighteen months of the first twenty-one months here) I had little opportunity to really teach or make objections to some practices. In the fall of 1964 I began in earnest to teach on the issues. I bought Bobby Thompson's workbooks on "Current Problems" and started a regular class on it in my home. All the members were invited to this study; none of the "liberals" would show their heads. We had this class for about one month and the establishment got "Ira Rice" to advise them on what to do. Brother Rice told them to do something unscriptural and this would force us to leave. One week later they took a vote and put one man at the head of the church, and as Ira Rice predicted, "We were forced to leave." At that time there were eight of us and we met for the first time Sunday night, the second week of January, 1965 in brother Bill Proffitt's home.

From the beginning we decided to count the cost and not do anything we could not handle. We continued to meet for three months in brother Proffitt's home to build up the treasury and to try to reconcile our differences with the liberal group. At the end of the three months we could see that no reconciliation was possible and we had enough to rent a building. We finally found a little white building that had been a gas station, grocery store, bar, house, and laundry. It was a filthy mess and hadn't been occupied in over a year. We got it for $55 a month When I got out of the Air Force in December of 1966 I had $75.00 a month support promised. We were fortunate in that my wife had a good job which could keep us going. By the first of February, 1967 I had a little over $400 a month support coming in and it has remained about the same till this very time.

I haven't been able to raise above my present $435 a month my biggest frustration is the seeming inability of brethren to even answer my letters of request. My needs are $600 a month I do know I feel guilty about needing that much when I read of requests from brethren in Mexico for $200 so they can support a family of 7 or 8. At the same time I really can't apologize since $600 is truly a modest need with reference to the situation here in Myrtle Beach.

I get to preach to more liberals and Christian church folks in one summer than most faithful preachers will even see in a four year period. They come to Myrtle Beach in droves and we can count on picking up from six to thirty of them every Sunday morning from June to September. Many of them have never heard of the "issues" or why it's wrong to use an "instrument", but when they leave, they have heard. From time to time we will get some of them back in the evening, when we do my wife and I will try to have them over for coffee and a little talk in our home. By this method we have planted many seeds of truth in the hearts of people that would otherwise never have heard "the other side" of the problem facing the church. I feel this alone makes this group worthy of every consideration.

Due to the military makeup of this congregation (about 90%) we have a constant turn over. There are none of the original eight saving my wife and I. At present (with the vacation season over) our attendance is about 25. During the summer our attendance runs as high as 65 with an average of 45. Since our existence in 1965 we have baptized thirteen and restored eleven and brought about sixteen out of the musical instrument and present liberal movement.

We have been instrumental in helping start the present faithful group in Charleston, S. C. and also helped to bring about the Bolivia, N. C. group out of the liberal camp this year.

With all the people who have come to us half taught or liberal we have succeeded in teaching and keeping everyone of them with the exception of one couple.

NEWS EDITOR'S NOTE: Brethren, did you read the above report? It is most interesting. It will do you good to read it. Jack Gibbert is worthy of your support and the Myrtle Beach work is a "Macedonian call" for your help. Won't you write Brother Gibbert? His address: 107 Scott Drive, Aux. 2 Myrtle Beach, S. C. Telephone 448-3030. As elders plan their 1969 budget, the Myrtle Beach work would be a most worthy consideration.

From Foy Layton: "We are to engage in a gospel meeting here October 21-27 with Bro. Jady Copeland of Long Beach, California. Address: Westside, 1605 West Irving Blvd., Irving Texas."

J.0. Walter, P. O. Box 21, Bolivia, N. C.: "Since last we wrote you, Belmont Ave. (Indianapolis, Ind.) wrote us that you had informed them about the work here and beginning October, '68 they were beginning sending $25.00 per month indefinitely to help us in the work here The church here has promised to pay our rent for Oct. They are eager to be taught."
