In Tucumcari, N. M.

Luther G. Roberts

The first of July of this year my wife and I moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico where I am engaged in working with and preaching for the church that meets on Third Street for worship. Brother Alvin O. Raney worked with this congregation for some three years, he did good work and is commended for his work's sake at this place.

For ten years, June 1958 to June 1968, I lived in Salem, Oregon and labored with the church in that city, which now meets on Market Street. It formerly met downtown in Salem in crowded quarters, but in 1964 a new building was erected at the present location. The conservative churches of Christ in Oregon have made considerable progress during this ten year period. Congregations were started during this time, as I recall, at Eugene, Albany, Dillard (now South Roseburg), and Portland, three of these have built new buildings also; others moved to new meeting places with better facilities. I had the privilege of having a part in the beginning of two of these congregations and preached one or more times for the other two. It was also my good fortune to preach for nearly all, if not all, the other conservative churches in the state during this time, at least, one time, as preaching some in the state of Washington.

We enjoyed the work in the Northwest and we are grateful to the Lord for the opportunities that were presented to us to serve Him in that region. It was good to be associated with the faithful preachers of the gospel and other brethren who were truly converted to the Lord in that area during the ten years.

We have found a faithful group of Christians meeting in Tucumcari at 1707 South Third Street, who are interested in the truth and in serving the Lord by standing and contending for the truth. We anticipate a pleasant and profitable work here as others have enjoyed in years past. P.O. Box 43, Tucumcari, N. M. 88401
