Legalistic?

Kenneth A. Frazier

Sometimes the charge is made that we are too "legalistic" when we demand a "Thus saith the Lord" for a belief or practice. Brethren are becoming more and more reluctant to give scripture to support their schemes and "great works." More and more we hear human reason and worldly wisdom substituted for Holy Scripture. Do you know the appeal Jesus used in his great battle with Satan? Three times he said "It is written." Let us become more like our Lord by giving Holy Scripture for everything we do. (Matt. 4:4,7,10; I Pet. 4:11). Where is "it written" that churches may maintain human organizations to do their work, such as colleges, orphan homes, missionary societies, or Bible corporations? Show me, and I'll print it in this paper.
