Good People Worship Jesus

W. Arthur Moody

Describing the love and worship of the baby used up more inspired words than to tell of the animal stable in Bethlehem where Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, was born of Mary. Since there were no vacancies for strangers at the Inn, Joseph and Mary had to take what shelter was available. Luke 2:1-7.

Mary had been expecting Jesus ever since Angel Gabriel told her she was to have a Son, the Son of God, and that He would be great and sit on David's throne to reign over the everlasting kingdom. Luke 1:26-33.

1. Angels of heaven praised God that night and announced to the shepherds that their savior was born. The shepherds hurried to see the child and then went all around glorifying and praising God for the things that they had heard and seen. Luke 2:9-20. "Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart."

The virgin had wondered how she could have this child and had asked Angel Gabriel, "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" He explained to Mary as also was explained to Joseph, her future husband, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee." Luke 1:34-35. This would be the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy, saying, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child,..." Matthew 1:18-25.

2. Wise men from the East rejoiced exceedingly as they followed the guiding light of His star until it stood over where the young child was. Matthew 2:1-12. They saw Him and worshipped, opening their treasures to give Him gifts; gold, frankincense and myrrh.

3. When Joseph and Mary took the baby to the temple at Jerusalem to do for Him after the custom of the Law, a just and devout man named Simeon took Him up in his arms and blessed God, saying, "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, ... for mine eyes have seen thy salvation." Luke 2:25-35.

4. Anna, the aged prophetess of the temple, came in just then and likewise gave thanks unto the Lord and spake of the child Jesus to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. Luke 2:36-38.

Angels, shepherds, wise men, an old man named Simeon and the aged Anna loved and worshipped Jesus even from His birth!

We, also, should rejoice to confess His name among men for the redemption of mankind and the glorification of the heavenly Father. But, loving Him obligates us to worship faithfully and to open up our treasures for His use. Let us persuade folks to love and worship the Lord now as did those righteous people then! Acts 2:41-47.
