"I Like Our Way Of Doing It Better Than You Way Of Not Doing It"

Pryde E. Hinton

Did you ever have somebody "pull" this Charley McCarthyism on you, when you asked for "book, chapter, and verse" that support organizations through which churches of Christ establish and provide relief to the needy, or something like the Herald of Truth.

Just persistently ask for "book, chapter, and verse." Let them do the proving — they introduced the humanism into the work and worship of the churches. If they ask you if you or the congregation where you worship would agree to spend a few cents to buy milk for an orphan, or food and clothing for a starving, freezing sinner, ask again for "book, chapter, and verse." And ask what their question has to do with human organizations through which churches from their treasuries do "the work of Christ"? If Galatians 6:10 and James 1:27 prove that they are right in buying milk for orphans and food and' clothing for sinners with money from the treasury, do these or any other Scriptures authorize the human organizations to use money from the church treasury? "Book, chapter, and verse," please.
