Debunking False Claims
Our liberal brethren keep their sectarian machinery going by appealing for support on the basis of the claims they make relative to the merits of their work. Strip their efforts of their fantastic exaggerations and false claims and their whole mess would fall flat.
Let's look at some fantastic claims they have made: World Wide Bible Study was going to reach 258, 852, 996 readers in 1963 through ads in magazines. They MIGHT have had 996 readers but I doubt it. Gospel Press says they reach 10,000 people with every $17. 50 spent. Perhaps they reach 1750 with every ten thousand dollars spent. The World's Fair was going to reach 100 million with the truth. One hundred thousand might have gone through the booth. Herald of Truth boasts of reaching millions. They reach thousands instead. Thus, none of them "reach" one tenth as many as they SAY they can reach. And, what is worse, NONE of these people are reached with the TRUTH.
I very seriously doubt that a single soul is, really converted either by World Wide Bible Study, or by Gospel Press, or by World's Fair Evangelism, or by the Herald of Truth, or by ANY OTHER sponsoring church arrangement. If, by chance, one did learn the first principles and obey the gospel of Christ, they would then and there and immediately be led into teaching and practices as FALSE as anything one could find in Communism, Catholicism, or Denominationalism. And thus the latter end would be worse with them than the beginning. And it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to turn from the holy commandment. 2 Pet. 2:20-21.
No, I don't get excited when I read of the claims of the liberals. For I know they are greatly exaggerated. I am simply sorry for those that are deceived thereby. A system that is altogether human and contrary to every principle set forth in the word of God cannot succeed. Every person who is attracted to it is thus turned away from the truth. They don't have half as many responses as they claim they have. But ONE response is too many for the system is false.
