Meditation On God's Word

W. Arthur Moody

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:..." II Corinthians 6:14.

Mary always kept company with good people. Even Joseph, to whom she was espoused, was a just man. Matthew 1:19.

Then there was the time Mary went to stay with Elizabeth and Zacharias, the priest, for about three months until John the Baptist was born. Luke 1:56. Elizabeth was her cousin and she was really pleased that Mary had come to be with her. When Mary entered the house and greeted her, Elizabeth exclaimed, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." Luke 1:41-42. So she already knew what the Angel Gabriel had so recently told Mary, that she would be the mother of Jesus. Luke 1:26,28. Elizabeth considered it an honor to have Mary in her home. "Whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Luke 1:43.

The Bible says that Elizabeth and Zacharias were both "righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless." Luke 1:6.

With what kind of people do you associate? "What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?" "What part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, ... and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord almighty." II Corinthians 6:14-18.
