An Interesting Episode

Herbert E. Winkler

During the Cogdill and Woods Debate in Birmingham, Alabama in 1957 there were two old schoolmates, who were preachers, and had not seen each other for years, who had met at the meetinghouse door and were talking over the events of the past years. I will call these two preachers A and B.

While they were reminiscing on the past, Bro. C. who also was a graduate of the same school and class with A. and B. came up and recognizing them entered into all the due congratulations common on such occasions.

During the exchange Mr. A. spoke up and said: 'Say, by the way, Bro. C, whose side are you on in this debate?'

C. responded: "I am on the Lord's side."

Then B. tapped A. on the shoulder and said: "He is against us."

Do you get the point? Read it again slowly and thoughtfully and I think you will see the implication.
