"A New Congregation In Nebraska"

Jesse F. Wiseman

A few faithful brethren are now meeting for worship in Beatrice, Nebraska. These brethren tried to work and worship with the older congregation in this city but due to its determination to support human institutions and other unscriptural practices it became necessary for them to establish a scriptural church (Acts 13:46)

The members of the new congregation, like many Christians in New Testament days, meet for worship in their homes (Rom. 16:5). However, these brethren are endeavoring to find a public building (to rent or buy) that will be suitable for regular worship and protracted meetings.

It was my privilege on May 22nd to preach to this new congregation. Services on this occasion were conducted in the Beatrice City Building, both morning and evening. (This building is not available for regular or protracted services). There were twenty-four present for the morning worship and a smaller number for the evening services. On the following Monday some of the brethren accompanied me to Lincoln where we had the pleasure of visiting and studying with two families, members of the church. These two families plan to meet with the brethren in Beatrice which will be a great help to the new congregation. Other brethren at Lincoln, including the preacher, were invited to meet with us but refused to do so.

There is a possibility that this new work will grow into faithful congregations in Beatrice and Lincoln.

If you are acquainted with faithful brethren, or those who might be led to obey the Lord in this part of Nebraska, please contact Brother R. C. Richardson, 1802 Jackson St., Beatrice, Neb. 68310, or Brother M. G. Brannon, 1401 Lincoln St., Beatrice, Neb. 68310.

I believe this field of labor has great possibilities. When a permanent meeting place has been secured a faithful gospel preacher should move into this needy section and help these noble brethren.
