News Briefs

The following is from Carroll W. Puckett, 3024 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, Ala.:

"On June 6th, I visited for awhile with Thomas B. Gaines in Cuthbert, Ga., who preaches in this southwest Georgia town. Brother Gaines has been living in Cuthbert for one year and came there from Bowling Green, Ky. He is presently being supported $225 per month by churches in Columbus, Ga., and Bowling Green, Ky. The church in Cuthbert has a new block building which is still unfinished but is paid for in its present condition. There are only three members here although their attendance is 15 or 20. Their contribution runs anywhere from $10-39 weekly. Brother Gaines has been trying to get some work since being in Cuthbert, as a bookkeeper. He has been teaching in a Methodist College located in Cuthbert for the past quarter but this is on a temporary basis. Brother Gaines is in desperate need of at least $75 more each month to provide for his bare necessities. He has a wife and a three week old daughter. If you or the church where you work or worship can help support brother Gaines and would like further information about him you may write to the following: B. G. Hope, 1253 Chestnut Street, Bowling Green, Ky.; D. D, Trotter, 3308 17th Ave., Columbus, Ga.; or Thomas B. Gaines, Box 51, Cuthbert, Ga."

I appreciate the many kind remarks that have been made and written to me concerning this column. You have made my task easier by sending in the announcements promptly. Continue to send in all announcements relative to the work of the church. Again I say, thank you. C.O.M.
