Unlikely Stories

Pryde E. Hinton, Dora, Alabama

Once upon a time there was a congregation of Christians that had as many present on Lord's Day evenings as in any other of her assemblies. She even had as many Wednesday evening as she had in "the worship service" Sunday morning! "Now, you tell one!"

A group of denominational preachers made the following statement: "We understand why preachers and teachers of the gospel of Christ uncompromisingly teach that sinners must obey Mark 16:16 and Acts 2:38. We understand that this is NOT 'water salvation,' but to demonstrate faith in, and love for, Jesus Christ and His Father. We further admit that one is redeemed by the blood of Christ only when he is in Christ, (Col. 1:13, 14) and that by faith one is baptized into Christ." (Gal. 3:26, 27) The foregoing may take place when they stand before the King; not before!

A group of orphan home organization hobby riders, and devotees of the Herald of Truth, and some who contend that the colleges may Scripturally be put into the "church budget," made this statement: "We see that you brethren whom we have wrongly called hobby riders, believe that the church is the only religious organization that can Scripturally 'relieve' the needy. We understand that you are not opposed to the HOME for the homeless, but that you simply oppose our 'forming a separate religious organization from the church, with separate treasury, president, etc., to do this work. We see the difference between our organizations and what we have called the private home. According to Matthew 19:6, we understand that God joins man and wife together; but we know that there's no similar statement of Divine Truth about 'our organizations.' From now on we will discuss issues forthrightly." Who will be first to make this beautiful dream come true?
