Did You Know?

Howard S. McCutcheon, San Francisco, California

That members of the churches of Christ who are serving in our Armed Forces cannot assemble for worship at our Army, Navy and Air Force Bases without possessing a letter authorizing them to do so from The Sixteenth and Decatur Streets Church of Christ in Washington, D. C., one of the "Sponsoring Churches"?

That this arrangement violates our Constitutional guarantees of the right of freedom of assembly for religious worship?

That the churches of Christ have a "Pope" for our members who are serving with the Armed Forces? Brother A. R. Holton, Sixteenth and Decatur Street church of Christ, Washington, D. C. is officially recognized by The Armed Forces of our country as "The Chief of Chaplains, Churches of Christ" with headquarters in Washington, D. C.

That Brother and Sister A. R. Holton and a full-time secretary-stenographer are making a World-wide tour of inspection of military installations, travel on planes of The Military Air Transport Service at the taxpayers expense and are paid their salaries from the church treasury of The Sixteenth and Decatur Street church of Christ, Washington, D. C.? Brother A. R. Holton is rated as a VIP (Very Important Person) and as such is given first priority in travel and billeting accommodations.

That Brother A. R. Holton, at the Lord's expense, is assembling material for the purpose of writing a book on the work members of the church are doing while serving as members of our Armed Forces ?

That all of the above is being done by The Sixteenth and Decatur Street Church of Christ, Washington, D. C. thus giving her control over ALL members of the churches of Christ who are serving our country as members of the Armed Forces?

That the contribution you may be sending to this "Sponsoring Church", The Sixteenth and Decatur Street church of Christ, Washington, D. C. is being utilized to support this sectarian, unscriptural arrangement of ecclesiasticism?
